Tennessee man arrested for reckless homicide in crash near Lake Wylie: Trooper

A Tennessee man has been arrested on a charge of reckless homicide from a Dec. 16 crash in York County in which a Clover man died, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol and court and jail records.

Troopers took Joseph Lee Boles, 51, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, into custody Thursday, nine days after the collision on S.C. 274, said Master Trooper Hannah Davidson.

Charles Gibson, 61, died at the scene, according to a written release on Dec. 18. from York County Coroner Sabrina Gast.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. close to Lake Wylie, near the North Carolina state line. No other details have been released.

Reckless homicide is a felony under South Carolina law that carries up to 10 years prison for a conviction. Boles remained in the York County jail Friday. Bail was set at $300,000.
