A South Carolina man has been arrested on a murder charge after a shooting over the weekend near Rock Hill, said York County Sheriff Tony Breeden.

Ryan Chase Price, 20, of Lancaster, is also charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime and possession of alcohol by someone under 21, jail and court records show.

The shooting happened at a party on Old Friendship Road on Friday night, said Trent Faris, spokesman for the sheriff’s office. The identity of the victim found in the yard outside the house has not released.

Deputies interviewed witnesses and after an investigation charged Price in the shooting, Faris said.

No motive has been released.

The sheriff’s office released a statement on the crime on its official website Tuesday afternoon.

Price is being held without bail at the York County jail after a first court appearance over the weekend. In South Carolina, a magistrate judge who handles first appearances cannot set bond for a murder defendant. Only a circuit court judge can set bail for a murder charge.

The York County homicide is the second of 2026 investigated by the sheriff’s office. The sheriff handles investigations outside the municipalities of Rock Hill, Fort Mill, York and Clover, which have their own police departments.
