One dead in shooting near Lake Wylie, York County SC sheriff says

Deputies are investigating after a person died in a shooting Friday night near Lake Wylie, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers were dispatched around 8:45 p.m. after the shooting on West Liberty Hill Road in York, sheriff’s office spokesman Trent Faris said.

The area is west of the Duke Energy Catawba Nuclear Station near S.C. 274.

The identity of the person who died has not been released by the York County Coroner.

Although the case remains under investigation, Faris said it is believed to be an isolated incident and there was no threat to the public. No information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting have been released.
