Rock Hill, South Carolina, police said they are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Feb. 20, 2026, in a downtown parking lot.

A York County teenager killed in a shooting at a Rock Hill parking deck Friday morning was involved in an armed robbery with a 16-year-old girl when he was shot by the 15-year-old boy they targeted, police said Saturday.

The 16-year-old girl is charged with murder, armed robbery and criminal conspiracy, according to a statement from the Rock Hill Police Department. She is charged with murder even though she did not pull the trigger because she participated “in a violent felony that resulted in the death of another,” the statement said.

The 15-year-old boy who allegedly fired the gun is charged with possession of a pistol by a person under 18, according to the statement.

Both suspects were taken into custody and transferred to the S.C. Department of Juvenile Justice, officials said.

Neither of the two charged teenagers have been identified because of their ages.

Za’veon Heath, 18, of Catawba, died at the scene after being shot, York County Coroner Sabrina Gast said.

Police have not released other details. It remains unclear what the accused conspirators were seeking from the 15-year-old in the alleged robbery. Rock Hill police Lt. Michael Chavis said Saturday the investigation is continuing.

The incident happened after 2 a.m. Friday in a parking deck on Elizabeth Lane near downtown Rock Hill, police said.
