A 23-year-old Lancaster man is dead after a drive-by shootout in front of a home over the Memorial Day weekend, according to the sheriff.

Jaheim Crawford-Hood died after the shooting Sunday night around 9:45 p.m. in the 300 block of Old Camden Road, Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile and Coroner Karla Knight-Deese said.

Hood and several others were outside the house when people outside the house and in a car passing by exchanged gunfire, Faile said in a statement. Crawford-Hood was the only person hit, according to Faile.

Faile said the shooting does not appear to be random. It is unclear how much information from others at the scene has been shared with law enforcement.

“This shooting happened in the presence of witnesses, and we need those folks and anybody else who knows anything about this case to talk with us,” Faile said.

Officials have not released any other information about why law enforcement believes shots were fired.

Sheriff’s office spokesman Doug Barfield told The Herald Tuesday the investigation remained ongoing but no arrests have been made.
