83-year-old woman pedestrian dies after hit and run in Lancaster County

An 83-year-old woman pedestrian died in a hit and run in Lancaster County, officials said.

Cresteen Miller, of Kershaw, died at a Columbia-area hospital around 11 p.m. Tuesday after being airlifted following the crash, Lancaster County Coroner Karla Knight-Deese said.

The collision happened before 9 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 521 south of Lancaster, according to a statement from Cpl. Nick Pye of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Lancaster County deputies responded, then troopers took over the investigation, sheriff’s office spokesman Doug Barfield said.

Master Trooper Hannah Davidson told The Herald Wednesday highway patrol investigators are reviewing evidence from the fatal crash but have not yet released any other information about the vehicle.
