A South Carolina state investigation is ongoing after police shot a person at apartments in Fort Mill on Tuesday morning while serving a search warrant, York County Sheriff’s officials said.

Officials have not identified the person who was shot or released the person’s condition. They have not identifed the officer or officers who shot.

No officers were injured in the shooting at Sycamore Apartments off Springfield Parkway, sheriff’s office spokesman Trent Faris told The Herald.

The area is near the intersection of Merritt Road between Rock Hill and Charlotte.

The shooting happened before noon, the sheriff’s office said in a statement released on official Facebook and social media pages.

It happened during an Internet Crimes Against Children search warrant and that search involved drug agents with the York County Multijurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit, according to the statement.

The drug unit is made up of officers from York County agencies including the sheriff’s office and police from Rock Hill, Fort Mill, Clover, York, and Tega Cay.

The unit is a multi-agency law enforcement task force operated through the S.C. Attorney General’s Office that investigates and prosecutes online crimes against children.

The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating the shooting, spokesperson Renee Wunderlich confirmed to The Herald.
