Rock Hill Police arrested the mother they say shoplifted with her 13-year-old son earlier this week.

Amber Henry, 33, was charged with shoplifting-second offense and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to a police report. She was placed in the Rock Hill city jail and released Thursday under $6,000 bond.

Police say Henry and her 13-year-old son stole shoes and other items from Academy Sports + Outdoors on Tuesday.

Henry reportedly watched for store employees while her son put on a pair of shoes and slid the box containing an old pair of shoes under a rack, police have said. She then removed tags off some merchandise and put the tags in her pocket as they walk out of the store.

Surveillance footage showed the pair “doing something in the trunk of the car” and re-entering the store with merchandise to return, the report states. They returned some items and received about $48.

Store employees later realized the merchandise they returned was not from the store, police said. Inside the shoe box that the teen slid under a rack, they found an old, worn down pair of shoes.

After the incident, investigators obtained warrants for Henry’s arrest and a juvenile summons for her son.
