Drivers might have noticed a heavy police presence late Tuesday afternoon on Heckle Boulevard in Rock Hill after a man was shot in the leg.

At about 4 p.m. Tuesday, Rock Hill Police officers were dispatched to investigate a possible shooting. Officers responded and located the vehicle with the victim in it on Heckle Boulevard near Crawford Road, said Capt. Mark Bollinger.

The car was heading to Piedmont Medical Center.

“A male subject had what appeared to be a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg,” Bollinger said in an email to the media. “EMS was on scene almost immediately and provided treatment and transported the victim from that location. The victim is uncooperative, and it is unknown what happened or where the shooting happened.”

It is unclear where the shooting happened. Investigators will continue to follow up and search for a suspect.
