US Marshals arrest Lancaster shooting suspect in New Jersey
The Lancaster woman who police say shot a man in the stomach and then fled in his truck has been arrested in New Jersey, according to the Lancaster Police Department.
Martina Aiesha Jenkins, 22, was arrested Wednesday by U.S. Marshals and placed in the Essex County Detention Center in Newark, N.J., according to Capt. Scott Grant, a Lancaster Police spokesman. It’s not clear where she was or what she was doing when she was arrested.
Jenkins is accused of shooting a man in the stomach on Feb. 1. Officers responded to a home on Plyler Road that morning and found a male victim was shot once in the upper torso. He was airlifted to a hospital.
The victim told officers he got into an argument with Jenkins, who lived in the home, during which she shot him, police have said. It’s not clear if Jenkins and the victim are romantically involved.
Jenkins reportedly fled in the victim’s truck, which investigators later recovered.
Grant said Jenkins has warrants for attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Investigators are waiting to see if Jenkins waives extradition.
