5 York Co. inmates accused of damaging jail sprinklers, flooding cells

Five York County inmates are accused of damaging the sprinklers in their jail cells in the York County Detention Center, causing their cells to flood.

The incident happened about 10 p.m. Friday, according to a report from the York County Sheriff’s Office. While officers were conducting a “guard tour,” five inmates broke the sprinkler heads in their cells, causing water to flood their areas.

The damage to all five cells was estimated at about $3,000, deputies say.

Diego Solorio, 22, Brandon Smith, 26, Sylvester Thrower, 18, Kyler Brakefield, 19 and Quinteris Miller, 18, were each charged with malicious injury to a courthouse or jail, according to jail records.

This is the second time Miller received additional charges while in jail. He is also accused of attacking another inmate at the detention center while he awaits trial on a murder charge.
