Investigators have released video of a suspect in a string of car break-ins in Fort Mill.

The York County Sheriff’s Office posted security-camera footage of the suspect on its YouTube channel Tuesday. The individual can be seen going in and out of several cars in the Regent Park neighborhood, where 52 cars were broken into early on the morning of April 12.

The footage doesn’t give a clear shot of the individual’s face, and investigators believe the thief is wearing a mask and hat in the videos. The suspect – believed to be male – is seen walking between cars carrying a backpack.

“Look at the way he walks, look at what he’s wearing, maybe someone out there knows who he is,” the sheriff’s office post says.

Cars parked in front of at least 37 different homes in the residential area were either broken into and had something stolen or the car was just rummaged through. The sheriff’s office says wallets, loose change and other items were taken from the cars.

Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect in the videos is asked to call York County Crime Stoppers at 1-877-409-4321 or go to yorkcrimestoppers.com.
