Police arrest man who allegedly flashed gun while stealing drill from Lake Wylie store
York County deputies have arrested the man they say flashed a gun to an employee as he stole a drill from a Lake Wylie store last week.
James John Abernathy, 23, of Clover, was charged with armed robbery, according to jail records. He remained in the Moss Justice Center under $15,000 bond Thursday.
The incident happened July 18 at Lowe’s on S.C. 557, authorities have said.
Deputies say Abernathy was carrying what appeared to be a silver revolver in a holster on his hip and presented the firearm as he left the store with a drill. As he passed the register, Abernathy lifted his shirt to show the revolver and unsnapped the holster, officials have said.
He fled in an older model silver Toyota minivan without a license plate.
