York, Chester, Lancaster schools closed Friday; high winds after severe weather
School districts in York, Chester and Lancaster counties have canceled school Friday because of high winds after Thursday’s storm, officials said.
The decision follows severe weather that downed trees, caused power outages and flooded roads in the area.
District officials for the York, Rock Hill, Clover and Fort Mill school districts all announced closures Friday morning.
Chester and Lancaster schools are also closed, officials said.
Chester County students will make up the day on Feb. 17.
The districts announced the decision by social media, email, text and phone to parents and students.
York Preparatory Academy, a public charter school in Rock Hill, also is closed Friday. After school activities are canceled. Students will make up the day Feb. 14.
The Riverwalk Academy charter school in Rock Hill opened on a one-hour delay Friday.
