‘Truly an honor’: York school board extends superintendent’s contract

Kelly Coxe will continue to lead the York school district following a positive annual evaluation.

Coxe has served for one year as superintendent of York schools. The York school board approved at their meeting Tuesday to extend Coxe’s contract through June 30, 2023, a release states.

“It is truly an honor to serve York School District One as superintendent,” Coxe said in a prepared statement. “We are a district that emphasizes learning together, serving together, and giving together, and our priority is the success of each student who walks through our doors.”

The York school board noted Coxe’s dedication to unifying the district through the phrase “Connected as One,” said Tim Cooper, spokesperson for the district.

The saying represents “a unification that builds strength as the district progresses toward preparing our youth for the future of Learn, Serve and Give,” Cooper wrote in an e-mail to The Herald.

The board also pointed to Coxe’s success in strengthening the district’s finances, Cooper wrote.

Coxe also showed “a genuine and authentic desire to serve the students, teachers, and staff of the district, demonstrated by finding ways to move the district forward in academics, instruction, and curriculum needs,” Cooper wrote.
