Rock Hill’s York Prep charter school to open second campus. What to know.

York Preparatory Academy, a public K-12 charter school in Rock Hill, is opening a second campus due to growth.

The campus will open in fall of 2022, and serve students in kindergarten through fifth grade the first year, according to a release from York Prep leaders. The campus eventually will serve students up through eighth grade.

The location has not been finalized.

“With York Prep’s applications and waiting list increasing year after year, we are excited for the opportunity to provide education to more students in South Carolina,” Brooke Bruner, enrollment and outreach coordinator, wrote in an e-mail to The Herald.

York Prep currently serves more than 4,000 students from eight counties in the state, the release states.

York Prep is part of the South Carolina Public Charter School District. The district approved the school’s application for the new campus earlier this month.

For more information, families should visit York Prep’s website and complete the parent interest form.

York Prep is the recipient of a National Blue Ribbon Award, the Palmetto Gold Award and the Palmetto Silver Award. The school was also named a School of Distinction and named to the Advanced Placement Honor Roll.
