Familiar face chosen to lead Clover’s Bethany Elementary School
Bethany Elementary School has a new top leader.
Margaret Guerin has been named principal of Bethany Elementary following approval from the Clover school district board of trustees, according to a release from the district.
Guerin has served for two years as assistant principal of Bethany Elementary. She replaces Kathy Weathers, who is moving to special services within the district, the release states.
“The Bethany community has a long history of supporting the school and always putting the needs of our students first,” Guerin said in a prepared statement. “I am honored to be chosen as the next principal of Bethany Elementary and am excited about sharing in the successes of our staff and students as we continue this journey toward excellence together.”
Guerin graduated from Winthrop University with a bachelor’s in early childhood education, the release states. Guerin holds a master’s in educational administration from the University of South Carolina.
Guerin started teaching in 2004. Over 10 years, she taught pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, second and third grade before taking a role as a technology coach, according to the release.
Guerin was also assistant principal at Larne Elementary before joining Bethany.
During the 2019-20 school year, Guerin was named Clover’s Outstanding Assistant Principal, according to the district.
“Ms. Guerin brings with her a wealth of experience in elementary instruction, personalized learning, technology, and Title I programming,” Clover Superintendent Sheila Quinn said in a prepared statement. “Ms. Guerin is an outgoing, reflective, and detail-oriented leader. She is passionate about the Bethany families, students, and staff and will maintain strong relationships and positive outcomes for the school going forward.”
