Christy Matkovich will take over this fall as principal at Springfield Middle School. Matkovich, assistant principal at the school since 2013, replaces the retiring Keith Griffin.

Matkovich has 23 years in education, a career that includes time as a math teacher, math specialist and coach. Matkovich earned degrees from the University of North Carolina, Winthrop University and Western Governor’s University.

Matkovich serves as a South Carolina Schools to Watch trainer and evaluator, the Upper Midlands regional director for South Carolina Association for Middle Level Education and co-chair for the South Carolina Middle School Conference.

Superintendent Chuck Epps said in a release the Fort Mill School District is delighted to have Matkovich to fill the role.

“Her familiarity with the school, its students and its parents will allow for a smooth transition in leadership and provide consistency during this transition,” Epps said.
