York Tech’s nursing program is one of the best in SC. Here’s where it ranks
York Technical College in Rock Hill has one of the best nursing programs in South Carolina, according to RegisteredNursing.org.
York Tech was ranked second out of 31 accredited nursing schools in the state, according to the nursing advocacy organization’s annual best RN programs list.
The California-based organization provides information on nursing programs and careers, along with industry news and resources, according to its website.
The organization’s ranking are based on several factors, including current and historical first-time pass rates of the NCLEX-RN — or the percentage of graduates who pass the exam, according to RegisteredNursing.org. The exam is required in the United States and Canada to obtain a nursing license.
York Tech, a public community college, offers an associate’s degree program in nursing. In 2019, York Tech’s program was ranked first out of 30 South Carolina nursing schools.
This year, the University of South Carolina landed the top ranking, according to the list. Lander University in Greenwood followed York Tech in the 3rd spot. The Medical University of South Carolina was ranked 4th and Clemson University was 5th.
York Tech earned its second-best ranking by “not just meeting the needs of the health care system, but surpassing them,” RegisteredNursing.org said.
“York Tech is dedicated to providing excellence in education, which translates to excellence in graduates,” the statement continued.
