Rock Hill area schools closed again Tuesday after ice storm
All four York County school districts plus Lancaster County and Chester County schools will be closed with online learning Tuesday after Sunday’s winter storm left icy road conditions.
The Rock Hill, Fort Mill, Clover and York districts all posted the closings on their websites around 4 p.m.; they were also closed Monday.
Law enforcement officials told The Herald there was a re-freeze potential for roads and bridges Tuesday morning. Tuesday’s forecast is for temperatures to start as low as 10 degrees then rise to near 40 during the day.
The four districts include not just areas in the municipalities, but rural areas that stretch west to the Broad River, north to the North Carolina state line, east to the Catawba River, and south to Chester County.
Lancaster County school district, which includes the Indian Land area, also will be closed.
Chester County schools is also closed Tuesday, according to the district’s Facebook page.
Winthrop University in Rock Hill will open at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, the school said on its website. All classes before then are cancelled, the school said in the online posting.
York Technical College and Clinton College had not made public decisions on Tuesday classes as of 4 p.m.
