A “spunky and fun” Florida shelter dog needed a new owner — then came the “perfect” match.

“She has had senior dogs before and is the perfect person to give him the best life possible,” the Humane Society of Tampa Bay wrote June 13 in a Facebook post.

Teddy the 10-year-old Yorkie got a second chance after spending more than two weeks “patiently waiting” for a home. Though the shelter didn’t reveal how Teddy ended up in its care, it hoped someone would take a chance on the “loyal and loving” pup with a “spirit that shines bright.”

“Despite his cataracts and missing teeth, Teddy is as spunky and fun as ever,” the shelter wrote June 11 on Facebook. “He loves to play, snuggle, and spread joy wherever he goes. This little guy may be a senior, but he has plenty of love to give.”

Cute photos show the pup, who eventually caught the eye of his new owner. She “fell in love,” and the feeling was mutual.

Then, two days after sharing that Teddy was up for adoption, the shelter posted the heartwarming update that he got a new home. Several social media users congratulated the dog as he started his next chapter.

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay didn’t immediately share additional information with McClatchy News on June 13.
