Mom, daughter poisoned man multiple times before he died, Indiana officials say
An Indiana woman is facing additional charges after officials say she poisoned her stepfather multiple times before ultimately killing him, news outlets report.
Ashley Jones is charged with two counts of murder, one count each of conspiracy to commit murder and consumer product tampering resulting in serious bodily injury and two counts of attempted murder, according to Jackson County court records.

According to court documents, text messages between Jones and her mother, Marsha Allen, revealed that the two conspired to kill Allen’s husband, Harold Allen, according to WXIN.
In November 2022, the two put pong pong seeds in brownies, then served the brownies to Harold Allen, the news outlet reported. Pong pong seeds can cause “disruption of cardiac electrical activity.”
On another occasion, Jones purchased water hemlock online, which court documents said is “the most violently toxic plant that grows in North America,” WXIN reported.
The two attempted to poison Harold Allen three separate times, officials said, according to WHAS.
Then, in December 2022, authorities said ethylene glycol was used to fatally poison Harold Allen, the news outlet reported.
Authorities said Harold Allen’s root beer float was tainted with the substance, commonly used as antifreeze, WLKY reported.
Marsha Allen has since died, according to the news outlet.
Jones is set for trial in January. She is being held on no bond.
Jackson County is about 70 miles south of Indianapolis.
