A 17-year-old boy died after his kayak overturned in a Wisconsin lake.

On Nov. 9, first responders were called to Kirby Lake in Maple Plain Township, according to a Nov. 11 news release from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department.

Several people called 911 “screaming for help,” according to the release.

“It was discovered there were two subjects in the water from overturned kayaks and a 17-year-old male had not resurfaced,” officials said.

Authorities searched the lake using sonar equipment. Then, they found an image believed to be the 17-year-old.

He was identified as Emiliano Alonzo Linaldi Enriquez of Minneapolis, according to The Minnesota Star Tribune.

Divers went to the area where the image was taken and found Enriquez.

He was flown to a hospital and on Nov. 10, officials were notified that Enriquez died from his injuries.

Weather reports show the temperature was between 36 and 50 degrees that day, according to AccuWeather.
