A New York man is facing charges after federal agents say he threatened to kidnap and harm an 11-year-old he met on the internet if she didn’t send him nude photos of herself.

Michigan State Police were contacted by the child’s family, who had recently learned she was “engaging in sexual conversations and sending nude photographs” to a man she met on Roblox, an online gaming platform, according to a criminal complaint.

An agent with the Department of Homeland Security assisting with the investigation learned the girl met 29-year-old Ryan Romario Dookhan, a licensed security guard from Jamaica, New York, around June 2024, records show.

The child told authorities Dookhan “acted like he was her age,” and she played with him online three or four times before he told her to download a messaging app called JusTalk where they could communicate, according to the complaint.

The girl used her grandmother’s phone to communicate with Ryan, whose username was “ryandookhan94,” authorities said.

During their first conversation, Dookhan threatened to “do bad stuff” to her, find her house and “take her from her parents” if she didn’t share sexual images of herself, the complaint said.

Fearing for her safety, the girl continued to send Dookhan nude photos of herself, authorities said.

The child told investigators that during their video calls, his screen was always off, records show.

Dookhan revealed he was 29 years old after she told him she was 16, authorities said. Even after later admitting she was 11 years old, he told her he didn’t care and continued to ask for pictures, according to court records.

When she refused his requests, Dookhan threatened to find her location if she didn’t comply, authorities said.

Records show Dookhan sent the child one video and two photos between June and August.

Dookhan is charged with three counts of sexual exploitation of a child, according to Jan. 28 indictment records. McClatchy News reached out to his attorney Jan. 30 for comment but did not immediately hear back.
