Security cam installer stalks woman, mentions what she’s wearing in texts, Ohio cops say
An Ohio man used his security camera company to stalk a woman in her workplace, according to police. His “prolific history” leads law enforcement to believe “there are many more victims.”
Robert S. Hocevar, 57, of Willowick was arrested Jan. 22 on charges of menacing by stalking and telecommunications harassment, according to the Westlake Police Department. Attorney information for Hocevar was not available.
Authorities said they received a call from a woman Dec. 16 about sexually explicit texts and videos being sent to her business phone from an unknown number.
The woman, a property manager of a Westlake business building, said the person knew her name and would reference what she was wearing that day, police said.
She told police she suspected the messages were coming from Hocevar, whose company, Elite Technology, had recently installed security cameras in the building, authorities said.
Hocevar is also charged with stalking a woman who worked at a bar in the nearby city of Lakewood. His company recently installed security cameras at the establishment, according to police.
Authorities said Hocevar had a history of telecommunication harassment dating to the 1980s and was “convicted of aggravated robbery, attempted murder and menacing by stalking.”
The Westlake Police Department asks anyone who “had work done by Hocevar or his company, Elite Technology, and subsequently received unwanted or harassing communications from him or an unknown person” to call the police at 440-871-3311.
Authorities said the communications may come from various phone numbers.
Westlake is about a 15-mile drive west from Cleveland.
