A woman called for help when a stranger showed up at her home late at night and refused to leave, Texas deputies said.

She called her neighbor, an off-duty Houston police officer, and her father, a retired Houston police officer, the night of Feb. 24, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

When the two showed up to the Magnolia home, they both shot the intruder when he continued to make threats, deputies said.

The stranger was taken to the hospital for medical treatment after lifesaving measures were performed at the scene, officials said.

Deputies are investigating the incident.

Magnolia is about a 50-mile drive northwest from downtown Houston.
