A father forced his preteen daughter to help him steal a car and break into a home, Michigan officials told local news outlets.

The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office said that on April 29 in Detroit, Andre Stephon-Curtis Broadenax, 29, drove the stolen car to the home of a 75-year-old man, WDIV reported.

He brought along his 11-year-old daughter, who Broadenax is accused of forcing to help him break into the home, according to Deadline Detroit.

By the time officers responded, Broadenax had fled on foot with the girl, the prosecutor’s office told WJBK.

But when he was found, Broadenax tried leaving his daughter behind before he was detained, WXYZ reported.

It’s unclear if Broadenax took anything from the home and how he allegedly forced his daughter to help.

The Detroit News reported that Broadenax was charged with two counts of home invasion, which are punishable by 35 years in prison if he is convicted on both charges. He also faces charges of larceny, receiving and concealing a motor vehicle; inducing a minor to commit a felony and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

He was arraigned May 2 and jailed on a $75,000 bond.
