Teen texts friend for help during sexual assault, OR officials say. Man convicted
A man accused of raping a 15-year-old he met at a party and sexually assaulting another teen girl more than a year later has been convicted of multiple charges in Oregon, prosecutors said.
Ryan Michael Hancock, 23, was found guilty of first-degree rape, first-degree unlawful sexual penetration and first-degree sexual abuse, plus three counts of second-degree sexual abuse, the Washington County District Attorney’s Office said in a May 20 news release.
McClatchy News reached out to his attorneys May 21 and was awaiting a response.
Hancock gave a 15-year-old girl alcohol at a party in August 2020, when he was 18 years old, prosecutors said.
The girl “became extremely intoxicated,” according to prosecutors, who said Hancock later “took (her) to his car where he raped and sexually assaulted her.”
She said no “but was too impaired to stop the attack,” prosecutors said.
The teen told her friend the following day and made a report to police in 2021, prosecutors said.
In March 2022, Hancock and a friend took another teen – a 17-year-old girl – to a park, and they made her drink and smoke marijuana over her objections, prosecutors said.
The girl became intoxicated, prosecutors said.
Hancock “sexually assaulted her and refused to let her leave,” according to prosecutors, who said the girl asked a friend for help via text.
The friend saw the girl leave Hancock’s vehicle “in a state of undress,” prosecutors said.
Hancock was indicted in 2023, according to court records.
More victims are feared, prosecutors said, and anyone with information should reach out to law enforcement.
Hancock is scheduled to be sentenced in June.
