A hiker got hurt on a steep, slippery waterfall trail in Utah — then had to crawl down to rescuers, officials said.

The hiker may have dislocated his ankle on a trail beneath Bridal Veil Falls, North Fork Fire Department said in a June 8 post on Facebook.

After he crawled down to where rescuers had set up a series of rope systems to safely lower him from the falls, medics treated him and he was able to return home in his own car, officials said.

Dramatic photos show the high-angle rescue, and a video shows rescuers set up on the steep terrain beneath the falls.

Bridal Veil Falls is about a 45-mile drive southeast from Salt Lake City.
