Man killed by teens in fight over 13-year-old’s phone privileges, OK cops say
An Oklahoma man was stabbed to death in a fight over phone privileges and two teenagers, 13 and 15, are facing charges, authorities told news outlets.
Ditter Gonzalez, 34, was found wounded at a home in Garber and taken to a hospital where he died, the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office told KWTV.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were alerted to the stabbing after one of the teens ran from the home to a nearby store and asked for someone to call for help, the station reported.
“It stems from an incident of one of the juveniles not being able to have his cellphone with him. It was taken away because of his behavior,” Sheriff Cory Rink told KOCO.
A 911 call was made at 7:40 p.m. Sunday, June 8, the Enid News & Eagle reported.
Investigators learned the teens got into a fight with Gonzalez about phone privileges, the outlet reported. Specifically, the 13-year-old’s mother took his phone from him — and she asked Gonzalez to help her, the sheriff’s office said.
It’s unclear what exactly happened, but Rink said there “appeared to be a domestic altercation that resulted in a stabbing,” according to the outlet.
Both teens attacked Gonzalez, but the 13-year-old is accused of stabbing him, and was arrested on a charge of murder, Rink told KOCO. The 15-year-old is charged with domestic assault and battery and manslaughter, the station reported.
Garber is a roughly 70-mile drive north from Oklahoma City.
