A man accused of trying to shoot his teenage stepson before shooting and killing his wife is behind bars, Georgia deputies said.

Kelvin Williams, 47, was arrested and charged with murder and two counts of aggravated assault in the July 13 incident, according to the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office.

He’s also charged with first-degree child cruelty, authorities said.

Deputies were called about a shooting at the family’s home in Woodstock and found Tenisha Williams, 48, shot to death, the sheriff’s office said. Her husband was arrested at the scene.

Investigators said Kelvin Williams tried to shoot his 16-year-old stepson before he shot his wife, killing her.

Authorities said the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute.

The teen and another child were home at the time, but neither was hurt, deputies said.

Williams remained in custody at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center without bond as of July 15, jail records show.

Authorities said the investigation is active and ongoing.

Woodstock is about a 30-mile drive northwest from downtown Atlanta.
