Former Vice President and Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden will open an office Friday in Rock Hill.

The campaign office, at 1348 Ebenezer Road, will hold its grand opening at 6 p.m. for voters to meet staff and supporters, Biden’s campaign said.

Ohio Congressman and former Democratic presidential candidate Tim Ryan will campaign on behalf of the former vice president at the new office, the campaign said.

Paige Hill, Biden’s South Carolina communications director, said the campaign has offices in every region of the state and Rock Hill is an important area for the campaign.

“We have an organizing staff up there, so this will serve as a space for them, as well as a hub for our Rock Hill area volunteers,” she said.

Hill said supporters will be able to get campaign material and information from the new office. The space also will be used for volunteers during phone banks and as a meeting place for canvassing.

“It’s also a good way for Charlotte-area folks to get plugged in as well,” she said. “We have a really good group of Charlotte area volunteers who come down and help us out as well.”

She said the campaign has six offices across the state and will likely open one more before election day.

Biden, who has maintained high support in the state, campaigned at Clinton College in August, drawing a crowd in the high hundreds. And Jill Biden stumped for her husband in Lancaster last month.

Both Sen. Bernie Sanders and Sen. Elizabeth Warren opened offices in Rock Hill this campaign season.
