Unofficial runoff results: Johnson, Audette, Guffey winners in York, Lancaster races
Voters in York and Lancaster counties headed to the polls again on Tuesday for several 2020 primary run off races.
South Carolinians voted on June 9 in several contested county, state and federal primary elections that determined the respective Democratic and Republican candidates for the November election. But candidates in three Republican races did not secure a majority of the vote and ended up in runoffs.
Two seats on the York County Council and the S.C. Senate District 16 seat, which represents parts of York and Lancaster counties, were on the ballot again Tuesday.
Unofficial results late Tuesday showed S.C. Senate candidate Michael Johnson, and York County Council candidates Tom Audette and Brandon Guffey as the winners.
Tuesday, Lancaster County, which has 63,712 registered voters, precincts had about 7% voter turnout. And York County reported about 9% turnout.
Polls closed at 7 p.m. and as of 9:30 p.m, 100% of precincts in York and Lancaster counties had been reported.
The final results won’t be available until the board of elections certifies them. Incumbents are marked by an asterisk.
