The Come-See-Me tailgate party and fireworks – the major finale to Rock Hill’s 10-day spring festival – has been moved to Sunday, due to the threat of rain.
The tailgate party is now scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Winthrop Lake, with the fireworks show set for 8:30 p.m.
With forecasters calling for a 100 percent chance of rain Saturday, and an 80 percent chance of thunderstorms Saturday night, the festival’s board of governors made the decision Thursday morning to reschedule.
“I wanted to wait until Friday” to make the call, festival chairman David Williams said, “but with all the logistics involved, the police officers, the show pros ... we needed to make a decision now.”

Logistics for Sunday’s event include the need to find a new stage for the show. The platform organizers had booked for Saturday night is scheduled to be at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday, so a replacement is needed.
Festival officials say all other events scheduled for Saturday are still on, but they could decide to make further changes to Saturday’s schedule, depending on how the weather develops.
The other major outdoor event scheduled for Saturday is Everything Trucks! from 9 a.m. to noon at First Baptist Church. If it looks like rain will affect that as well, Williams said, organizers won’t be able to reschedule and it will be canceled.
Because of the complications of organizing so many people days in advance, Williams said, organizers had to make the call based on the available weather forecasts.
“It may end up being sunny all day Saturday,” he said.
