  • Spectrum offers select NC customers a free upgrade to 1 Gbps during Thanksgiving week.
  • Premier and legacy Ultra and Internet subscribers can activate via Spectrum’s app.
  • Customers need gig-capable modem; speeds revert Dec. 2, 2025.

Spectrum is offering its customers a free internet speed upgrade during the week of Thanksgiving.

The offer will boost speeds up to 1 gigabit per second for select Spectrum internet customers from Monday, Nov. 24 through Monday, Dec. 1 — encompassing the popular Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping days.

This November and December, online holiday sales are expected to exceed $250 billion, according to the 2025 U.S. Holiday Shopping Forecast by Adobe Analytics.

“Thanksgiving means more people, more devices, and a lot more gaming, streaming and shopping,” Sharon Peters, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Spectrum, said in a news release.

With gig-speed internet, customers can stream content from multiple devices, enjoy reduced lag on gaming and browse the web faster.

The offer is available for customers who have Spectrum Internet Premier or legacy flagship Internet and Internet Ultra plans.

Spectrum’s Premier plan offers speeds up to 500 megabits per second, and the legacy Ultra plan offers speeds up to 600 megabits per second. One gigabit per second — the speed Spectrum is offering for the week of Thanksgiving — is 1,000 megabits per second.

Customers who have one of those qualifying plans can activate the free speed life in the My Spectrum App anytime through Monday, Nov. 24.

A gig-capable modem is required for gig speeds — the maximum speed for some equipment is up to 940 megabits per second.

  • Though there’s no cost to activate the speed upgrade, speeds will return to their original speed tier Tuesday, Dec. 2.

Benefits for Spectrum customers

This isn’t the first time Spectrum has given its internet customers a speed lift. Last year, Spectrum gave its Internet and Internet Ultra customers a speed increase of 100 megabits per second.

The provider has also given select television customers free access to streaming platforms including HBO Max, Peacock, Paramount Plus and Hulu.
