An Amazon driver accompanied by her 16-year-old son came under fire after accidentally stopping at the wrong house in rural North Carolina, according to investigators.

A suspect has been arrested, and he faces two counts of attempted murder, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office said in a Jan. 12 news release.

The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 14 in Ellerbe, about a 75-mile drive southeast from uptown Charlotte.

“The victim, Tashika Trimble, and her 16-year-old son mistakenly pulled into the driveway at ... Jones Springs Church Road. They tried to verify the address with a male resident. After realizing the correct delivery address was across the street, Trimble completed the delivery,” the sheriff’s office reported.

“As Trimble and her son left, they felt an ‘impact’ at the rear of their 2023 Dodge Challenger and quickly realized the vehicle had been shot. They immediately left the area, called for help, and met deputies at a local business.”

The gunfire damaged the car’s rear end, trunk, tail light and rear window louver, according to court documents.

An investigation identified the suspect as 23-year-old Sidney Dillon Pittman, who lives at the home the delivery driver visited by accident, court records show.

In addition to two counts of attempted murder, Pittman is charged with discharging a weapon into a moving vehicle and injury to personal property, officials said.

“He was already out on pre-trial release at the time of his latest incident,” the sheriff’s office said.
