SC woman killed in crash that injured two others, officials say
A South Carolina woman was killed Sunday in a crash that sent two others to the hospital, officials said.
Judy Cravens, a 76-year-old Seneca resident, died from blunt force injuries suffered in the accident, Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis said.
The two-vehicle collision happened at noon in the Fair Play area, according to Cpl. Tyler Tidwell of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Cravens was driving a 2011 Hyundai south on S.C. 11, and was turning left when her car was hit by a northbound 2012 Jeep, Tidwell said.
The Jeep flipped over and the Hyundai ran off the road, according to Tidwell.
Cravens was taken to Oconee Memorial Hospital where she died in the emergency room about an hour after the crash, Addis said.
There were two people in the Jeep, and both were taken to a hospital in Greenville, according to Tidwell. Further information on the conditions of the two surviving victims was not available.
No other injuries were reported.
There was no word if anyone involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt.
Through April 16, at least 257 people had died on South Carolina roads in 2023, according to the state Department of Public Safety. Last year, 1,091 people died in crashes in South Carolina, DPS reported.
At least four people have died in Oconee County crashes in 2023, according to DPS data. Last year, 16 deaths were reported in the county, DPS reported.
