A South Carolina restaurant ranks among the nation’s best places to eat — so you may want to come hungry.
The Bluffton Room, known for its American cuisine and tableside service, was named one of the “Top 100 Restaurants” in the county, according to findings published in mid-November.
To create the list of favorite U.S. dining spots, the restaurant reservation website OpenTable said it studied more than 12 million data points in the year leading up to Aug. 31.
“Restaurants with a minimum threshold of diner reviews were considered and evaluated by a compilation of unique data points, including diner ratings, the percentage of five star reviews, the number of alerts set, the percentage of reservations made in advance and direct searches,” OpenTable wrote in a news release.
What makes The Bluffton Room special?
The Bluffton Room was the only place in South Carolina to earn a spot on the list. The restaurant has received praise before, having ranked among the best steakhouses near Hilton Head Island, The Island Packet reported in June.
In addition to New York strip steak, OpenTable said one of the restaurant’s most popular dishes is bananas foster, a New Orleans-born dessert traditionally made by combining ingredients and then setting them on fire. Several customers went online to rave about having the chance to see the dish made at their tables.
The restaurant, which has a patio and indoor seating at its location on Promenade Street in Bluffton, serves other Southern favorites such as shrimp and grits.
In addition to food, OpenTable users gave The Bluffton Room high marks for customer service and ambiance. The restaurant on its website said its “gracious service and table-side preparations evoke the feeling of a lively dinner party.”
On its list, OpenTable didn’t put the top restaurants in ranking order but said California had 14 of them, the most of any state.
