A North Carolina-based chain serves breakfast staples — and customers can’t get enough.

So much so, the biscuit-focused restaurant now ranks No. 1 in the nation for fast-food breakfast.

Biscuitville tops the list from USA Today’s 10Best after people across the country spent a month voting on their favorite places to grab early meals.

“10Best’s seasoned editors teamed up with a panel of experts to compile a list of their top choices for a fast, satisfying morning treat,” the website said in its July 17 report. “Then, our readers voted for who swiftly serves up the best breakfast.”

In the resulting readers’ choice awards, Biscuitville reigned supreme. The Greensboro-based chain started in 1966 and now has dozens of locations in the Carolinas and Virginia.

What makes Biscuitville a fan favorite?

10Best gave the restaurant a nod for serving a variety of biscuit dishes — but the praise didn’t stop there.

“Biscuitville’s fresh-baked biscuits can be enjoyed a number of ways, from simple bacon, egg, and cheese or fried chicken biscuits to more elaborate breakfast sandwiches like their Spicy Chicken & Jalapeño Pimento Cheese Biscuit,” 10Best wrote. “With breakfast platters and sides of grits, hash browns, or country gravy, plus indulgent sweet treats like their blueberry muffin, it’s no wonder folks return again and again.”

After Biscuitville, these restaurants rounded out the list of the nation’s top five for fast-food breakfast:

  • Del Taco at No. 2
  • Jack in the Box at No. 3
  • McDonald’s at No. 4
  • Dunkin’ at No. 5

In addition to being named the best place to eat fast-food breakfast, Biscuitville ranked as one of the nation’s favorite regional fast-food chains in a separate 10Best category, Charlotte Five reported.

10Best has told McClatchy News it doesn’t share how many people vote in its contests.
