Driving on South Carolina roads has gotten more treacherous because of Tropical Storm Helene.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation on Friday morning recommended residents avoid travel if possible. The department had received many reports of downed trees and debris in roadways caused by strong winds from Helene.

“SCDOT crews will begin clearing roadways as it becomes safe to do so,” the department said in a press release.

For those who must travel, SCDOT asks that you use caution and report any downed trees or debris to the department directly at 855-467-2378.
