Running vehicle found riddled with bullet holes and a dead man was inside, SC sheriff says

A 24-year-old South Carolina man’s body was recently found inside of a running vehicle that was riddled by gunfire, according to the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office.

Manning resident Ny’Jshore Jareek Green was the victim who was killed when shot multiple times, the sheriff’s office said Tuesday in a news release.

Green’s body was found minutes before midnight on Sunday by deputies who were responding to a call about a suspicious vehicle in the Arlen Road area of Manning, according to the release. That’s about 3 miles from Exit 119 on Interstate 95.

Deputies found a vehicle parked on a private road with its engine running and headlights on, the sheriff’s office said. As they approached, the deputies saw there were several bullet holes in the driver’s side window of the vehicle before finding Green, who had been shot multiple times, according to the release.

Green wasn’t breathing and didn’t have a pulse, and the Clarendon County Coroner’s Office was called, the sheriff’s office said.

No other injuries were reported.

There was no word about a shooter or shooters, or anyone else involved in the gunfire. Information about a possible motive for the shooting was not available.

No arrests have been reported, but Green’s death is being investigated by the sheriff’s office, which is being assisted by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 803-435-4414 or 803-433-8477, CrimeStoppers at 888-CRIME-SC or submit an online tip.
