Search ends for 27-year-old vulnerable adult who was believed to be in danger, SC cops say

A Wednesday morning search for a missing South Carolina man who was believed to be in danger has ended.

About an hour after reporting Jamaal Black as missing, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department said the 27-year-old was safely found. Information about where Black was found was not available.

Black was publicly reported missing earlier Wednesday, the same day he was last seen, the sheriff’s department said in a news release.

Black hadn’t been seen since he was at his Bywood Drive home in the early morning hours, according to the release. That runs from Percival Road to Faraway Drive, in a part of Columbia near Exit 13 on Interstate 77.

Black walked away from his home, the sheriff’s department said.

There was no word if Black was alone when he was last seen.

Black, who the sheriff’s department called a vulnerable adult, has an intellectual disability and is mostly non-verbal. He didn’t have his medication, and that is why he was believed to be in danger, according to the release.
