Two people killed and another hurt in wrong-way crash on I-20, SC cops say

Two people were killed and another person was injured Saturday night in a crash on Interstate 20, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The deadly wreck was called an accident by the Kershaw County Coroner’s Office.

The two-vehicle collision happened at the 86 mile marker on I-20, which is in Kershaw County, said Lance Cpl. Brittany Glover of the Highway Patrol.

At about 9:25 p.m., a 2022 Kia K5 was driving west in the eastbound lanes of I-20 when it crashed into a 2006 Toyota Avalon that was heading east on the highway, according to Glover.

The Kia driver, who was the only person in that car, died at the scene, Glover said. That driver was identified as 25-year-old Georgia resident Kenneth Anthony Bradshaw, according to the coroner’s office.

There were two people in the Toyota, and both were taken to an area hospital where one of them died, according to Glover. Jaquitta Henry, a 34-year-old Columbia resident, was the Toyota driver who died at the hospital a short time after the collision, the coroner’s office said.

Further information on the surviving victim’s condition was not available.

There was no word if anyone involved in the wreck was wearing a seat belt.

Information about why the Kia was driving the wrong way on I-20 toward oncoming traffic was not available, but the coroner’s office said the crash is being investigated by the Highway Patrol.

Multiple eastbound lanes on I-20 were closed for several hours because of the crash, and the scene wasn’t cleared until about 1 a.m., according to the South Carolina Department of Transportation.

Through June 8, at least 331 people had died on South Carolina roads in 2025, according to the state Department of Public Safety. Last year, at least 948 people died in crashes in South Carolina, DPS reported.

At least seven people have died in Kershaw County crashes in 2025, according to DPS data. There were 10 deaths in the county in 2024, DPS reported.
