South Carolina man is dead and there’s a search for his killer, sheriff says
A South Carolina man was killed early Tuesday morning, according to Aiken County officials.
Dequon Hill, a 27-year-old Jackson resident, was the shooting victim, Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables said.
Hill’s body was discovered at about 2 a.m., by deputies who were responding to reports of a shooting in the 5000 block of North Silverton Street, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.
Hill was unresponsive when deputies found him inside a vehicle that was parked in the driveway of his home, Ables said. At 3:40 a.m., Hill died at the scene from gunshot wounds to the body, according to Ables.
No other injuries were reported.
There was no word about a shooter or shooters, or anyone else involved in the gunfire. Information about a possible motive for the shooting was not available.
No arrests have been reported, but the shooting continues to be investigated by the sheriff’s office and coroner’s office. An autopsy will be performed in Newberry later this week, Ables said.
