A man was shot before another man and woman were arrested, SC police say
An argument led to a recent shooting and two people have been arrested, according to the Sumter Police Department.
The shooting happened Monday night near businesses in the 1300 block of Broad Street, police said in a news release.
Sumter residents Blake B. Drown, 25, and Danielle Holliday, 26, were arguing with a 28-year-old man outside of a vehicle parked in the wood line behind several businesses when the shooting happened, according to the release.
Drown and Holliday got in a vehicle and sped away, police said.
The 28-year-old victim was airlifted to a hospital in Columbia where he is in stable condition, according to the release. Further information on his condition was not available.
Information about why the victim, along with Drown and Holliday, were in the woods near Broad Street, and what led to the argument as well as a motive for the gunfire, was not available.
On Tuesday morning both Drown and Holliday were arrested after being located in the Mooneyham Road area by officers and Sumter County Sheriff’s Office deputies, according to the release. Both were booked into the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center, police said.
Drown was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to the release. Holliday was charged with accessory after the fact to a felony, police said.
No bond has been set for either Drown or Holliday, Sumter County court records show. Both are scheduled to return to court Oct. 10, according to judicial records.
Despite the arrests, police said they are continuing to investigate the shooting.
While both Drown and Holliday have been arrested multiple times in the past, Drown was out on bond when Monday’s shooting happened, court records show.
In December 2024, Drown was charged with larceny and two counts of petit larceny ($2,000 or less) and posted $24,250 bond on the combined charges, according to court records. Those charges are pending, court records show.
