Way was driving a 2019 GMC Acadia SUV west on U.S. 52, officials said. Near the intersection with Butterbean Road, next to Lake Moultrie, a 2004 Honda SUV that was driving east on U.S. 52 crossed left of the center line and hit the GMC, according to Pye.

The Honda driver was taken to an area hospital, Pye said. Further information on the Honda driver’s condition was not available.
No other injuries were reported.
There was no word if either of the drivers were wearing a seatbelt.
Information about what caused the Honda to veer into oncoming traffic was not available, but the wreck is being investigated by the Highway Patrol and coroner’s office.
