South Carolina man’s shot multiple times and dies, Lexington County coroner says

A South Carolina man was shot and killed Tuesday, according to the Lexington County Coroner’s Office.

Thirty-year-old Columbia resident Kendall Lemont McTeer was identified as the shooting victim, Coroner Margaret Fisher said in a news release.

The shooting happened at an apartment at 18 Berryhill Road, according to the release. That’s the Waters at Berryhill apartment complex in a part of Columbia that’s in Lexington County, not far from the area called Malfunction Junction where I-26, I-20 and I-126 converge.

McTeer died at the scene after being shot multiple times in the upper body, the coroner’s office said Wednesday night.

No other injuries were reported.

Information about the shooter, or shooters, and how many people were involved, was not available, and there was no word on a motive for the gunfire.

No arrests have been reported, but the shooting continues to be investigated by the coroner’s office and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 888-CRIME-SC or submit a tip online.
