Man opened fire on his family then ran, SC police say. Here’s what followed
A wanted man was arrested Tuesday, about a week after he opened fire on multiple family members at a South Carolina home, according to the Florence Police Department.
James Bines, 38, was charged with nine counts of attempted murder, aggravated breach of peace and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, jail records show.
The charges stem from a June 10 shooting at a home in the 1100 block of Harmony Street, police said Wednesday in a news release. That’s in Florence, not far from the junction of I-20 and I-95.
Bines was involved in an altercation with nine people who were identified by police as his family members, the release said. Information about what caused the altercation was not available.
During the altercation, Bines presented a firearm at multiple people who then ran away, according to the release. Bines then fired multiple gunshots at the victims as they ran, police said.
No injuries were reported, according to the release.
esponding officers did not find Bines in the area, police said. But on Tuesday, Bines was located in a neighboring jurisdiction, according to the release. There was no word where Bines was when he was taken into custody.
As of Wednesday, Bines was being held at the Florence County Detention Center, jail records show. Information about his bond status was not available.
