Schools in Rock Hill region closed again Tuesday, citing roads, cold after snow

All school districts in York, Lancaster and Chester counties will be closed again Tuesday, citing continued icy roads and cold after the weekend storm dumped as much as eight inches of snow.

York County has four school districts. The Rock Hill, Fort Mill, Clover, and York districts all said campuses will remain closed Tuesday after being closed Monday.

Lancaster County schools, which includes Indian Land, are also closed Tuesday. Chester County schools are closed, too.

Schools will use online and other at-home learning Tuesday.

The closings were issued as law enforcement agencies, including the York County Sheriff’s Office along with police from Rock Hill, York, and Clover, posted social media messages and pictures Monday showing that rural and secondary roads remained icy in many places.

The closings come after all districts were closed two days last week after an earlier ice storm.

As of 4:30 p.m. Monday, Winthrop University and Clinton College in Rock Hill had not yet posted weather plans for Tuesday. York Technical College is closed Tuesday with online classes.
