Junior forward Jerry Deng will seek other opportunities after redshirting this past year during Will Wade’s lone season with the Wolfpack, Deng told On3 Sports on Tuesday. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Wade announced on Jan. 26 during a weekly ACC media call that Deng would redshirt the rest of the season.

“He’s got some off the court things going on. He’s got some medical stuff going on,” Wade said. “We met with him and his camp, and we all felt like that would be the best course of action right now. He’s got a lot of things he’s working through.”

At the end of December, Wade told reporters Deng was dealing with a minor injury. He did not play after Dec. 17.

Deng played eight games for N.C. State and averaged 6.1 points and 2.1 rebounds per appearance. He made 11 3-pointers on 32.5% shooting.

He started his career at Hampton in Virginia and attended Florida State for his sophomore year, prior to Leonard Hamilton’s retirement.

His redshirt absence led to a three-big rotation with Ven-Allen Lubin, Musa Sagnia and Scottie Ebube. Lubin and Ebube have now exhausted their eligibility.

For the Wolfpack, class of 2026 signee Cole Cloer, along with Matt Able, Paul McNeil, Terrance Arceneaux, Alyn Breed, Colt Langdon and Jayme Kontuiemi have all entered the transfer portal.

Christian Hammond, who played at Santa Clara under former N.C. State coach Herb Sendek, recently committed to the Wolfpack. The Pack’s coaching staff remains focused on recruiting and has visits lined up with other prospects.
